Nicholas Elliott IEA (prov)

In order to fulfil his artistic ambitions he sold out of his marketing company in London and lived cheaply in India and Spain where he taught himself to paint. In 2004 he returned to the UK and settled in Somerset where he further honed his painting. Through a joint exhibition in Cork Street, Mayfair in 2008 he gained London Gallery representation with Quantum Contemporary Art.

In 2009 he set up home in rural France and converted a rundown barn into a dream studio. In 2013 he was diagnosed with cancer of the jaw forcing him to sell up and return to the UK for treatment. At Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead – Surgeons undertook a remarkable 18 hour operation to remove the tumour, his right cheek, his left upper and lower jaw. Using a titanium structure and the fibula bone from his lower right leg they reconstructed his jaw and used parts of his right thigh to recreate his cheek. Physically and psychologically scarred by his experience he struggled to get back to painting and didn’t pick a paintbrush up for another 18 months. By the grace of God he came through it all and relocated to North Norfolk where he is once again painting.

Nicholas exhibits locally and nationally and regularly undertakes a series of ‘daily paintings’ which he posts and sells from his blog at nicholaselliott.blog
