Jane was born in England to New Zealand parents, and for someone who has always felt the cold, loves to work outside to see her subjects at work as they do so all year round. Often she has found her oil paints turn to gel whilst working in colder conditions!
Jane is fortunate to have been with Pink Foot Gallery since 2012 – two years after she began painting seriously. This support has allowed her to carry on learning how to paint better.
Jane began painting shortly after her return from New Zealand because of a road traffic accident – hit in her flimsy driver’s door by a drunken young woman in her much heavier car – got her questioning her previous work track of print, then radio journalism.
In some ways, she now thinks it was fortunate in choosing not to do an art degree after an art foundation course. She needed to get on and have children as she was over 30. But it has allowed her to learn from many different artists as her children have got older.
