Passionate about pastels
Born in Cyprus and living most of my life in Essex I graduated with a BA (Hons.) degree in Graphic Design from Kingston University and forged a successful career running my own business in the same subject for many years. I made the leap to follow my dream of becoming a full-time artist in 2016 and haven’t looked back. I have always loved to draw, it’s something I’ve done since childhood, it feels like it’s just part of who I am. Whether I’m drawing a portrait or landscape I want to represent my subject with visual honesty capturing the mood and essence of a fleeting moment in my detailed style. I love the play of light and shade and use it to engage the viewer, harnessing it to capture an intimate depiction of emotion. I have a penchant for contre-jour and chiaroscuro dramatic lighting effects. My style is detailed with a passion for contemporary realism.
I am a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and have been selected for their annual juried exhibition Enduring Brilliance at the National Arts Club, New York for the last 3 consecutive years; Having won awards at two of those prestigious shows with my pieces travelling on to the Butler Museum of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. I have also exhibited twice with IAPS (International Association of Pastel Artists) in their webshows, as well as many of the Pastel Societies throughout America where I have won several prizes. I am also a member of the PGoE (Pastel Guild of Europe). I have been selected or preselected by four London Art Societies exhibiting at the Mall Galleries, London; The Pastel Society, The Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Society of Women Artists as well as the Society of British Artists. I won Best in Show at the Institute of East Anglian Artists Annual Open Exhibition in 2017 of which I am an Associate Member.
